Description of Sport:Basketball is a fast-paced team sport where players work together to score by shooting a ball through a hoop. It builds skills in teamwork, coordination and strategy while promoting fitness and enjoyment for players of all ages.
Club Information:Granite Belt Giants Basketball Association is a vibrant, community-driven club providing opportunities for children to participate in basketball across the Granite Belt. The association supports junior development, fostering skill development, teamwork and a strong sense of sportsmanship. Run by dedicated volunteers, the Giants play an important role in bringing the community together, offering a positive and inclusive environment for players, families and supporters to enjoy the game.
Season Information: Usually commencing in October each year (Term 4). In the past season has returned in the new year to conclude the season, however duration of season is decided each year based on numbers and volunteer capacity.
Age Group & Genders: 2025 season consisted of:
Mini Giants: 6-8 year olds participating in skill sessions and modified games
Mixed Juniors: 9 – 12 year old participating in games
Intermediate Girls – 13 – open girls only competition
Intermediate Boys – 13 – 16 boys only competition
In past seasons – Seniors – 16 – 18 year olds
Cost: 2025 fees $110 (including black playing shorts to keep).
Training Days: Unfortunately, we don’t offer training days as we are a small group of volunteers, however always open for suggestions and new volunteers to help in this area.
Location: St. Joseph’s ‘Bathersby Centre’, High Street, Stanthorpe
Travel Requirements: nil.

Uniform/Equipment Supplied: A full playing strip is provided – black playing shorts are yours to keep. Playing singlet to returned at the end of the season. All players need to provide is appropriate playing shoes.
Volunteers Roles: There are always lots of volunteers needed to run our association successfully from coaches, scorers and referees. Please contact us for further information.
Representative Opportunities: In the past we have participated in various regional competitions. In 2025 a squad did travel to Goondiwindi to play in a carnival which we are excited to do again! We hope to be able to create enough interest and develop skills so that we can return to these competitions and give our players this awesome experience.
