Description of Sport: Netball is a fast-paced, team-based sport that focuses on passing, movement and accurate shooting to score goals. It develops communication, agility and teamwork, making it an enjoyable and inclusive game for players of all ages and abilities.

Club Information: Stanthorpe Netball Association offers a structured and supportive pathway for players from their very first introduction to the game through to senior competition. Beginning with Net Set Go (ages 5–8), players build fundamental skills before progressing through Juniors (8–9), Intermediates (10–13) and into Senior competitions (14–Open). With a strong focus on development, participation and enjoyment, the association creates opportunities for players of all abilities to grow in confidence, stay active and be part of a connected sporting community.

Season Information:  Usually starts in late April / early May through to late August / early September.

Age Group & Genders: 5 years to open age, both girls and boys.

Net (5–6 yrs)
A fun, play-based introduction to netball where children develop basic movement skills like running, jumping and catching. The focus is on enjoyment, confidence and learning through games.

Set (7–8 yrs)
Builds on fundamental skills with more structured activities, introducing passing, footwork and simple rules. Players begin to understand teamwork and how the game is played.

Go (8–10 yrs) “Juniors” 
Moves towards modified matches, helping players apply skills in game situations. There is a greater focus on positions, rules and game awareness while still maintaining a supportive and fun environment. Also a chance for junior umpires to be involved and practise their skills.

Intermediates (10–13)  &  Seniors(14–Open)

Played under full official netball rules, with structured matches, fixed positions and umpires, providing a more competitive environment that emphasises teamwork, strategy and performance.

Cost: $170 (2026)

Training Days: Intermediate & Senior training on Thursday afternoons from 3:30 – 4:30pm.  Inter District (ID) Rep training will be decided by each team’s coach.

Uniform/Equipment Supplied: Uniforms are available by ordering through Association including: dresses, jackets, polo shirts, umpiring polos.  Dress and Stanthorpe Netball polo shirts only compulsory when becoming a rep player.  Pull over hooded grey fleece – Stanthorpe Netball jumpers and red SunSmart hats can be personally ordered and purchased at Stanthorpe Embroidery.

Special Needs Inclusion: Players of all abilities welcome.

Volunteers Roles: Executive committee are all volunteers including president, vice president, treasurer, secretary and registrar as well as coaches, umpires, fundraiser co-ordinator and canteen co-ordinator.

Representative Opportunities: Inter District Rep requires travelling to different Darling Downs areas, including Warwick, Toowoomba, Highfields, Laidley, Roma & Lockyer. Carnivals held usually one per month from May to September.
